Las Puertas al Sentimentalismo is an exhibition of sculpture, installation and performance by Bárbara Sánchez-Kane. The sculptural works of Sánchez-Kane make up a collection that goes all the way from fantasy to reality. Influenced by Mexican contemporaneity and folklore, and leading both to their most blatant expression, Sánchez-Kane creates a visual universe that is home to the rejected people. The inhabitants of this world are not ashamed of all that we have been taught to hide: fear, scruples, ugliness, miscegenation and brutality. Their darkest beings have been mined to heal them, and Sánchez-Kane has made them ambassadors of a nation that does not belong to beauty, but to courage and painful sensitivity.
