Licenciado presents the first exhibition in Mexico of the Brazilian artist Washington Silvera (Curitiba, 1969): “On 2 sambas, Big Lebowski + 15 ideas of magical objects”.
Silvera is a multidisciplinary creator who has developed a plastic narrative around the exploration of common and everyday objects altering their materials, forms, as well as their utilitarian context and their conventional disposition, generating a sort of perceptive tissues that go from the poetic to the laughable .
Silvera will show a selection of key pieces of his recent production: from the hammers made of wood that are nailed to themselves; matches of enormous dimensions; musical instruments that look like victims of some magical enchantment; in addition to photographs of a fantastic realism that act absurdly.
The Italian writer Italo Calvino said that an object that appears described in a narrative is endowed with a “special force”. That’s what Washington Silvera proposes: magical objects.
